Experience just might not be the best teacher 😢.

Daughters Who Walked This Path shines the spotlight on Morayo's journey through life as a young girl raised in a typical Yoruba household with disciplinarian but loving parents. She also enjoys a robust relationship with her extended family (what could possibly go wrong?? Well, A LOT) 🤦🏾‍♀️.

We see Morayo as she navigates the birth of her younger sister and watches as life sets hurdles of tradition, gossip, and discrimination. Still, in her graceful style, she overcomes them. However, this is only a foretaste of what is to come.

As her teenage age thrusts her into the confusing waters of emotions for which she may not be prepared, we encounter sweet and innocent love 👩‍❤️‍👨.

Choked by the fear of shaming her parents, she sets boundaries but leaves certain overfamiliar frontiers unchecked. True to the saying (evil is closer than you think), evil happens under the noses of seemingly watchful parents. Tayo, her charming rogue of a cousin, turns her world on its head; rape, a miscarriage, and the breach of trust.

Will she have the courage to break the legacy of silence for women in her family? 🤫🤐

Will the stigma of being a rape victim end?

Is parental love conditional??

Morayo spirals through the loss of her innocence and losing a confidant, develops coping mechanisms to hide her pain, and finally begins to heal, but can she let go of her past, and is redemption possible for sweet Morayo?

Prepare to get lost in this coming-of-age story… It's a memoir of traditions, healings, and strength… Yejide Kilanko blew my mind🤯🤯.
