We Ride The Storm (The Reborn Empire #1) by Devin Madson

Oh dear, oh, dear. This has got to be the biggest cliffhanger in the history of shocking cliffhangers! Now I have to wait for book two!

This book owes much of its 4/5 rating to the final few chapters.

I felt it could've been written better. The entire thing was a bit confusing as there was no proper intro to anything: plot and character-wise. The only guide I had to anything was the map and even that was barely enough.

This book has more than enough unique variety to warrant some slow, intricate, detailed world-building and character development. But the author obviously had other ideas. Everything is written seemly in haste.

The main characters resume their atrocious acts with barely any hint by the author as to purpose. Even as you read on, things only become mildly clearer. The only obvious thing is that there's conflict, on a very large scale at that. I think there's a need for some small historical background on the plot as well as the characters. There are still many vague concepts and plot themes.

It's a fast-paced read, you can be sure of that. Lots of breathtaking action. The second book will certainly be a bomb.
