Senlin Ascends (The Books of Babel #1) by Josiah Bancroft

Estimated read time 1 min read

Senlin Ascends is a unique piece of work that is as intriguing as it is delightful.

The story is smooth, a jolly ride in the most comfortable human contraption imaginable, one that ignites the subconscious, immerses one in deep cerebration, a natural page-turner.

Senlin Ascends is the first book in what gently promises to be a classic. At this point, the potential glimpsed into is so much that I’m moving immediately to the second book. Since it’s a complete series, all the better.

True quality high fantasy is proving harder to find by the day. Here is one that tells a most wonderful story, all without the cliched tropes that are core to the genre. It is utterly engrossing in its unpredictability.

Senlin Ascends is a didactic. Aside from the numerous cerebral-tasking quotes littered through its pages, the plot is of quite commendable allegorical quality, with parallels drawn in sometimes comic, sometimes grim ways.

This is a great work of art, one whose subsequent progression along the present trajectory will propel to heady heights in the world of fantasy fiction.

Oh my gods, I just realized it’s 4 books instead of 3
