Oh well, I must say I expected far more fireworks here, given the way book 1 ended.
It starts out very slow, but admittedly picks up a great deal of pace from the middle-third onwards. Then towards the end, it becomes a bit boring up until the very last pages, where a small cliffhanger just ensures that you want to know the next stage of the adventures of Thomas Senlin.
I felt that not much happened. Book 2 was genuinely slower-paced than the first book. But I must say that an awful lot of world-building was done here.
The writing was top class as usual, very reminiscent of Patrick Rothfuss. The story is filled with loads of complex, witty, funny dialogue and thought-provoking stuff, all without being overly grim. Quality thing! The Hod King next!
