On Saturday, 1st of March 2025, socialite, and CEO of TheSunkyO Lifestyle Company, Ojulari Olasunkanmi launched his new non-fiction work, The Other Side of Midnight, a deep expose into the workings of the nightlife industry, its inherent commercial opportunities, and many surrounding misconceptions.

Hosted by Ope of 88.5 UFM, the event featured amongst its attendees book lovers, corporate professionals, and socialites affiliated with the author, including Nigeria model and actor, Beverly Osu and Dr. Olubukola George-Taylor, CEO of Robert Taylor Media.

Deconstructing the myths surrounding the nightlife industry

As part of the book discussion, the author went down a rabbit hole of his personal experiences in nightlife, beginning from his first job as a show promoter in his University days and subsequent career growth.

He emphasized the many security challenges and sociocultural implications of being affiliated with the nightlife industry, especially the stigma attached to such jobs as bartending, disc-jockeying, and event planning.

Commercial opportunities in nightlife

Speaking at the book launch, Sunkanmi pointed out the many commercial opportunities in nightlife, citing the industry as a promising career choice for individuals across all walks of life.

While formal education was not necessarily a qualification for such jobs, the author noted that soft skills like interpersonal communication, time management, problem-solving, and adaptability were key to success in roles in the nightlife industry.

The Other Side of Midnight promises to be an exciting read for young individuals seeking alternative career paths and an educative piece for anyone curious as to the dynamic workings of the nightlife industry.

The Other Side of Midnight is available for purchase on Selar, Rovingheights, and bookstores near you.
