What happens when ambition, rivalry, and the glamour of fashion collide? Nigerian American lawyer and author Ope Adebanjo answers this question with the release of her debut novel, The League of Style, a fast-paced thriller set in the heart of Lagos’s vibrant fashion industry.

Combining glamour, rivalry, and ambition with themes of identity and diaspora, the novel captures the energy of Nigeria’s $10 billion apparel market, offering readers a story as bold and dynamic as the city itself.

Part page-turning drama and part cultural exploration, The League of Style shines a spotlight on the power dynamics and ambitions shaping Africa’s growing fashion scene. Against the backdrop of Lagos, a city brimming with creativity, hustle, and global influence, Adebanjo tells a story of identity, aspiration, and the choices that define us.

What also makes The League of Style stand out is its innovative visual storytelling. The book weaves in AI-generated imagery that brings characters, settings, and themes to life, offering modern readers a highly immersive experience. This forward-thinking approach reflects Adebanjo’s own professional background in AI law, bridging her legal expertise with her creative vision to deliver a novel that feels both timely and original.

“I wanted to write a story that reflects the ambition, creativity, and resilience I see in Nigeria and the diaspora,” says Adebanjo.

“The fashion world felt like the perfect stage to bring those themes to life. It is bold, competitive, and constantly evolving, just like Lagos itself.”

Beyond the glamour and intrigue, The League of Style explores universal themes such as identity, cultural connection, and the pursuit of success. It is a novel that will resonate with readers in Africa, the diaspora, and beyond.

The release also marks the beginning of a new literary journey. Adebanjo is currently wrapping up the sequel, which is due for release on 20th December 2025, promising readers even more drama, ambition, and unforgettable characters. Pre-orders are available on 1st December 2025.

Both the debut novel and the new sequel are available on the author’s official website and Amazon in print and e-book formats.

About the author

Ope Adebanjo is a Nigerian American lawyer, Harvard Law School graduate, and author. She is passionate about making law and culture more accessible through storytelling and creativity.
