Ake Arts and Book Festival 2022 date Announcement

Prominent people to have graced previous editions include Nobel laureates Wole Soyinka and Abdulrazak Gurnah.

The date for the Ake arts and book festival, 2022, has been announced and is expected to take place on the 22nd – 27th November 2022. 

The Ake book and arts festival idea was conceived by renowned writer and poet Lola Shonenyin and her team. Since its first edition, hosted in the ancient city of Abeokuta, subsequent editions have been held in the commercial city of Lagos, Nigeria. 

The tenth edition of the Ake book festival will see a return to its birthplace in Abeokuta, Ogun state. 

Over the past few years, the festival has brought writers of all races and backgrounds together with readers to have deep conversations on topics affecting humanity and the African race. Prominent people to have graced previous editions include Nobel laureates Wole Soyinka and Abdulrazak Gurnah. Others include popular poet Niyi Osundare and writers such as Abubakar Adam Ibrahim, Molara Wood, Ayogbami Adebayor, Ama Ata Aidoo, and Dami Ajayi. 

The 2022 event will take place for six days. This early announcement is vital, especially to those who have had intentions of attending previous editions but could not for one reason or the other. 

Book lovers and art enthusiasts are advised to begin planning and saving up against November to be part of one of the world’s largest arts and book festivals and take advantage of the opportunity to meet amazing writers at the event.
