Red Notice

What do you want out of an action movie? Guns blazing, car chases, hand to hand combat and a heart-racing plot? If you were on a low budget, Red Notice would deliver on all of these (except for the heart-racing plots). The plot revolves around Nolan Booth, the second-best art thief in the world, who becomes tangled with FBI profiler Agent Hartley. Together they race around the world from Rome to Argentina in a bid to steal Cleopatra’s fabled golden eggs. Their competition is The Bishop, the world best art thief and on their tails is the Interpol led by Inspector Das.

Red Notice stars Ryan Reynolds acting as himself .

He brings his quirky, quick-witted and juvenile personality (which he birthed in Deadpool and has become his sole role in movies) to the table with two other movie superstars: Gal Gadot and Dwayne Johnson, The Rock. The Rock is also acting as himself(SPOILER: He goes to the jungle); big, tough, smart guy working for the ‘police’ as usual. Gal Gadot, is well…Gal Gadot. Tall, exquisitely dressed, kick-ass and sexy accent. In all, the characters in Red Notice have zero depth. Just Ryan, Dwayne and Gal acting a script specially tailored for them.

The movie tries to deliver plot twists (I countless at least four) which I guess was an attempt to build up the shock at the final and ‘biggest’ twist. Unfortunately, in my opinion, these were poorly done and too countless that the big reveal wasn’t a shock at all.

Final Verdict. Not bad, not great, just watchable. 3 out of 5.Despite the hype Netflix placed on Red Notice, I had no great expectations for it. So I am not disappointed. The movie reminded me strongly of another Netflix movie, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, except it was better than Red Notice. Ryan and Jackson were way better than Ryan and Johnson. I wished Gal had more screentime. At least, I’d have enjoyed listening to her talk.Have you seen Red Notice? How did you like it? Let me know in the comments.
