I kept expecting to see Hercules Pirout or Miss Maple to show up, especially when the first detective came in acting like the opposite of a cat on a hot tin roof.

The three-episode miniseries is available on Netflix and set in 1925 England.
A lavish country house party at Chimneys, the estate of Lady Caterham, turns into a murder investigation when long-time family friend and guest, Gerry Wade (played by Corey Mylchreest), is found dead.
Wade, known for being a heavy sleeper, is pranked with eight alarm clocks, but one clock goes missing, and he is found dead from a drug overdose.
Lady Eileen Brent, fondly called Bundle (played by Mia McKenna-Bruce), is the sharp-witted daughter of the house who refuses to believe his death was an accident or suicide. She begins her investigation and uncovers a deep conspiracy involving international spies and a secret society known as the “Seven Dials”.
She is joined in her efforts by her friends Jimmy Thesiger (Edward Bluemel) and Bill Eversleigh (Hughie O’Donnell), while Superintendent Battle (Martin Freeman) investigates on behalf of Scotland Yard.

I am thankful I haven’t read the book because I tend to see where they went wrong. It’s a bookworm thing. I can’t help it. This way, I get to see it as itself and not an adaptation.
As for the mastermind, I wasn’t surprised. I knew there was something they were hiding, just not what, and on the train, it all came together.
What surprised me, however, was Number 7. Hello, hello. Now I want to read Agatha’s version. It is nice to see Martin Freeman in a mystery movie. Any hope we get another season of Sherlock?
The opening scenes hooked me; that sweep of Spain was beautiful. Makes me want to put it on my to-visit list.
There were some scenes that felt off, like the one with the man on the road. How did that happen?
All in all, it was a good watch. And by Netflix standards, pretty solid.
7/10.
