The tears fell again,
But she found peace in them, because she loved the rain,
She thought the tears a gem.

She walked down the street as they poured,
Bloodshot eyes, tear-streaked cheeks, bewildered glances from strangers,
But she walked with her head high and didn’t say a word,
For freedom was a double-edged sword.

She had no goals, no plans, no destination,
She was fine with any place the wind swept her,
For she had long given up on salvation,
Because her gloom could not be deterred.

The tears fell,
But she smiled through them, and only time would tell,
If she truly found them a gem.
