Shadowmancer

When I first picked up Shadowmancer from my uncle’s library, I didn’t know what to expect, as it was the first time I’d be reading this author.

As a Christian fantasy fiction book, I wondered how this book was going to turn out, especially given its interesting title. So, I tucked in, fighting the urge to sneak to the back page to see how the story ended.

Each passing page brought suspense, and I wanted to savor it deeply.

Thoughts

Fantasy writers are great writers, and I marvel at their ability to think of creative characters to make up a story while passing valuable messages on to the reader.

Fantasy books, in my opinion, are an interesting concept.

Themes

Shadowmancer is a Christian fantasy allegory that is easily traceable to certain events in the Bible.

The storyline is clear and easy to read, although the old English language is adopted in its writing and even the story’s setting.

Shadowmancer identifies the themes of Sin, Death, and Love for Power (as seen in the character of Demurral). It also dwells on the significance of God, Satan, and Faith.

Characters

The book’s 3 MCs, Thomas, Kate, and Raphah, went through so many hurdles that, at a point, it felt like I was in the story to empathize with them.

At the start of the story, Kate and Thoman are weak characters. However, their encounter with Raphah helped them develop fiercer characters; they became bold and even began to take on some of Raphah’s godly traits.

Verdict

In Shadowmancer, every page is golden, as so many things stood out to me; I just kept highlighting with my pencil.

I’m glad I didn’t close the book after the first page because I thought it wouldn’t be interesting. But boy, if you stick around long enough, you won’t want to close the book.

The book happens to be in a series, so you’ll have to stick around with G.P. Taylor for a while. 😅

So, guys, don’t slack on reading this book.

There are many lessons to be learned from Shadowmancer. The book reminds readers of how important it is to trust in the power of God (Riathamus), have him be your Lord and Savior, reject the power of Pyratheon (Satan), and not succumb to his evil desires.

God bless you all✨
