Witch Hunt by Ian Rankin

Witch Hunt is about a mysterious assassin, Witch, who likes to target men, attack them at close range, and cause chaos with bombs and explosions.

When two unseemly explosions of two boats, one off the coast of France and one off the coast of Britain, directly lead to the death of six men, agents are alerted to her entry into Britain and are on a mission to find her.

Will they be able to catch her before the summit involving the Heads of State starts? Will Elder, a retired British agent, the only one who is sure Witch exists, be able to convince the agency that Witch is not an organization but rather an individual? And more importantly, will they be able to prevent any death leading to a world crisis?

Witch Hunt is one of the best thrillers I have read so far. It is everything, well, almost everything a perfectionist would like about a book- clearing up all loose ends, giving one something to ponder on, and secondary characters having a chance to grow.

I absolutely love the portrayal of Witch: she is all badass, no apologies given-none expected, and a professional killer, and I agree with Elder when he said if there were more of her in the service, Britain would still be an Empire. She is smart, ruthless, a master of disguise, and true to her principles.

I also love how Witch Hunt ends. In the end, everything became a simple explanation of why she was like that.

I would like to read more of Mr. Ian's books.

Rating: 4 out of 5.
